Chennai: A 17-year-old boy killed his father with a log after the drunk man attacked his mother at Periya Karumbur near Baluchettychatram.
He had two wives, Vanitha, 43, and Ramila, 36. Around 7.30pm on Thursday, a drunk Kumar picked a quarrel with Ramila, saying she bought a moped without informing him. On seeing Kumar attack his mother, their 17-year-old son, an ITI student, intervened.
The deceased, Kumar, a daily wage labourer, lived at Mariamman Koil Street in Periya Karumbur village. Though both families lived on the same street, Kumar usually stayed with his first wife, Vanitha. He picked up a log and struck his father repeatedly on the head, arms, and legs.

Police said the case would be altered to murder. Kumar was taken to Kancheepuram Government Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, Kumar succumbed to his injuries. The boy was sent to a juvenile observation home in Chengalpet. Further investigation is on. Download the TOI App.
Following a complaint from Vanitha, Baluchettychatram police registered a case on Friday morning and detained the boy.
