Bengaluru: A man, who allegedly attacked his 30-year-old wife with a floor cleaner in the basement of a private clinic’s premises in JP Nagar, has been arrested. Venkatesan (39) was taken to the spot for a mahazar and produced before a court Friday, which remanded him in judicial custody. Police said Venkatesan was injured after being assaulted by people who witnessed the assault. A senior police officer said Venkatesan confessed that a marital row was the main reason for the attack. He has been lodged in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara. His wife Madhumita Maity is still undergoing treatment in the ICU at a private hospital. A traffic police sub-inspector caught him. Madhumita’s colleague filed a complaint stating that Venkatesan had visited the clinic a few times in the past and had fought with his wife. Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance of the attack. It has written to DCP South, seeking details of the action taken against the accused.
