Pune : District collector Jitendra Dudi has set Dec 1 as the deadline to commence development on six major roads inside the Hinjewadi IT Park. “The tendering process for these roads will be initiated after securing possession of 60% to 70% of the required land. The land acquisition process is expected to be completed by Oct 15,” Dudi said.

Meanwhile, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police will launch a crackdown against unauthorised roadside parking. Manufacturing companies in the zone have been directed to provide dedicated parking or halting facilities for their own vehicles as well as those belonging to associated transport vendors. The roads, which will be developed by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), include a 1.5-km stretch from Mahalunge to Hinjewadi, 2.4 km from Thakar Vasti to Maan Gavthan, 3.5 km from Surya Hospital to Thakar Vasti, 7.1 km from Urawade to Hinjewadi Phase 3, 3.93 km from Nande to Lavale, and 1.5 km from Nande to Maan. A plan has been formulated to prepare a proposal by Sept 30 to utilise canal-side land or land under the irrigation department’s jurisdiction for road development, which will be submitted to the relevant canal board for final approval. Separately, Dudi announced a series of infrastructure improvement measures for Chakan industrial area.
“These projects are being expedited, with priority given to completing road development, traffic management systems, and essential infrastructure works within the stipulated timeframes,” PMRDA commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari said. Dudi also directed civic agencies to carry out road widening, pothole repairs, and removal of traffic obstructions to resolve severe bottleneck congestion at Bhumkar Chowk and Ravet. PMRDA will make further decisions based on physical inspections of Wipro Chowk, Punawale-Marunji connecting road, and roads running alongside the local canal. To smoothen the land acquisition process, the collectorate will organise village-wise guidance camps for farmers and landowners in Maan, Marunji, and Hinjewadi. These camps will educate them on the transferable development rights policy, regulations regarding residential use within a two-km radius, and compensation benefits available to those surrendering their land. He directed PMRDA, public works department (PWD), and zilla parishad to immediately repair potholes on connecting roads across Chakan, Talegaon, Borate Vasti, and Bhosari to ensure smooth traffic flow. Additionally, Dudi ordered a comprehensive survey of Chakan Chowk and other major intersections to prepare a revised plan prioritising traffic flow and pedestrian safety. This includes a technical study on pedestrian paths, subways, traffic islands, and safe turning lanes.
