Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, officially inaugurated its new Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) section, titled, ‘Jnana Kosha: Treasury of Indian Knowledge Systems,’ on Saturday.

The inaugural event, organised jointly by IKS Centre, IQAC, and St Agnes College Library, marked a significant step towards bridging ancient wisdom with contemporary education. Chief guest K Chinnappa Gowda, former vice-chancellor, Karnataka Janapada University, Haveri, unveiled IKS and Jnana Kosha sections inside the library. Addressing the gathering, Gowda emphasised that alongside classical Indian knowledge, indigenous and folk knowledge systems are equally vital. He highlighted the urgent need for comparative research using a multidisciplinary approach to understand the unique characteristics, differences and significance of these various knowledge frameworks. Sampoornananda Balkur, retired Kannada professor, St Agnes College, was the guest of honour. Sr M Venissa AC, principal, St Agnes College, was present.
