LUCKNOW: A 91-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his grandson, who attacked him repeatedly with a spade while he was sleeping at his home in Pure Bhawani village under Dalmau police station on Saturday.
Rupesh told investigators that Parmeshwar exercised considerable authority over the family and that he had been harbouring resentment over the issue for some time, according to the police account. Police reached the village after receiving information about the incident, took custody of the body and initiated post-mortem proceedings. A case was registered at Dalmau police station on a complaint filed by Suman, wife of the victim’s son Jaymal.
The victim, Parmeshwar Yadav, was asleep in his room around 1pm when his 27-year-old grandson, Rupesh alias Sarvan, allegedly entered the room carrying a spade and launched a series of blows at him. The elderly man’s screams alerted family members and neighbours, who rushed to the spot. Family members first rushed Parmeshwar to a community health centre, from where he was referred to the district hospital as his condition remained critical.
