During interrogation, the duo allegedly told police that the illegal business was owned by another person, who is absconding. Police said efforts were underway to trace and arrest the absconding suspects. An LCB team, while patrolling in the Tofkhana police limits, received a tip-off about an illegal gas transfer operation being run in an open space behind a shop on Tapovan Road. The suspects were allegedly transferring LPG from domestic cylinders into commercial cylinders without a valid licence and selling it illegally. The team raided the premises in the presence of panchas and caught two men allegedly refilling commercial cylinders using an electric motor pump and digital weighing scales. Neither could produce valid authorisation or licences for handling domestic or commercial LPG cylinders. They also disclosed that the domestic LPG cylinders used for refilling were supplied by another person, who is also at large. Further legal action is being taken. Download the TOI App.
