Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday invited suggestions from the public for naming the proposed airport at Mamnoor, stating that the long-pending dream of an airport in Warangal was finally becoming a reality through the efforts of the Congress govt.

In a post on ‘X’, the chief minister said the govt had allocated ₹295 crore for land acquisition and handed over the required land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The works are estimated to cost ₹213 crore, and include a new domestic terminal building, an Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, a technical block, an electrical and mechanical (E&M) workshop, and a fire station among other infrastructure. The tender notification was issued by the AAI on Sept 14. The last date for submission of bids is Nov 3. The officials will open the bids on Nov 9. Sources said a pre-bid meeting is likely to be held on Sept 28.

He criticised the previous BRS govt, alleging that its leaders had focused on family interests and luxurious farmhouses for a decade instead of taking steps to realise the airport project. “The dream is now taking shape on the ground. This is not just an airport. It is a new gateway for industry, tourism, education, jobs and investment. Looking forward to flying from Mamnoor Airport, Warangal – a new symbol of a growing and connected Telangana ,” he added on X. Tenders have been invited by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for infrastructure development and construction of a new terminal building at Mamnoor airport.
