CCTV footage showed a speeding BMW crashing through the barrier on Mumbai’s Coastal Road and plunging off a bridge. The vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash. The car fell into an under-construction parking site early on Sunday.

Police explain how BMW left bridge
The incident occurred around 5.20am as the BMW travelled from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali. The fourth occupant, an unidentified man aged around 20, sustained severe injuries in the crash. The Mumbai Coastal Road is a 10.58-km high-speed freeway connecting Marine Drive in south Mumbai to the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
Police said the car was travelling at high speed before hitting the outer railing. The driver could not understand the turn while travelling at high speed, according to police. Police said all four occupants were students. Police said all four students were originally from Ahmedabad, while the BMW belonged to Gajjal’s family.
Police suspect the driver allegedly failed to negotiate a turn near Lotus Jetty, opposite Lala Lajpatrai College. The BMW then crashed into the outer railing before plunging from the bridge. It eventually crash-landed at the construction site below. He was admitted to the trauma ward at Nair Hospital in critical condition. Shanaya Gajjal and Aditya Jakasania were students of a management college in Juhu. Dhirya Seth studied at a college in Kurla. The BMW crash occurred on the Coastal Road early Sunday. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
