Offering to Bhadra: Water resources minister NCheluvarayaswamy offers bagina to Bhadra canal at a check dam near Adiral village in Hiriyur taluk, Chitradurga district Sunday
Chitradurga: Water resources minister N Cheluvarayaswamy Sunday said the state govt has given top priority to the Upper Bhadra Project and will complete the lifting of 17 TMC of water from Tunga River to Bhadra reservoir by Dec. CM DK Shivakumar will visit Chitradurga on Sept 24 to offer bagina, he added.
Speaking after offering bagina at a check dam near Adiral village in Hiriyur taluk, he said work to divert Tunga water to Bhadra dam was progressing as scheduled.
He praised Shivakumar as a dynamic leader and said he did not need anyone to dictate terms. On Janardhana Reddy’s remarks against minister BK Hariprasad, Cheluvarayaswamy said not every statement deserved a response. He said irrigation and development works in Chitradurga were being expedited.
Cheluvarayaswamy defended Shivakumar against criticism from Union minister HD Kumaraswamy, saying Shivakumar’s earnings were personal and questioning whether Congress had ever raised issues about Kumaraswamy’s family assets.
