Lucknow: Pointing fingers at the BJP govt for atrocities against Dalits, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday came up with a white paper stating that 151 statues of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar had been desecrated under the BJP govt in UP.
“As many as 45 cases, the FIRs are lodged where the accused are unidentified. In a total of 18 cases the accused were named, and no action was initiated against the accused in any of the remaining cases,” Akhilesh said adding that Ambedkar was being disrespected across the state and that the BJP govt did not respect and honour Dalits. Because people voted against them, Akhilesh said, adding that Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution, in the run up to 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP had openly announced that it wanted to change the Constitution of India which they couldn’t.
The actual tally might be more,” he said, presenting what he described as the ‘PDA Audit’ of issues plaguing the Pichrde , Dalits and Alpsankhyak (Minorities). “These statues are being desecrated in connivance with the govt,” he said, adding that arrests were made in only 14 of the instances. “The same hand (of Ambedkar’s statues) was being desecrated in which he is seen holding the Constitution of India,” he said. The irony is that the BJP govt never comes up to explain the charges that we have levelled in our earlier Audits on employment, paper leak or reservation – to name a few,” he said.
“This is the count that we have individually verified case by case. “This is not the first time that the PDA Audit has underscored the concerns of the neglected and deprived sections of the society.
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that BJP was seeking loan from a bank to offer Rs 1 lakh to women once re-elected. He said SP will take a loan from the same bank to offer Rs 2 lakh to women to set-up their business. He said this will be in addition to the Rs 40,000 pension that he has also promised to women. He said after SP is voted to form the govt in 2027 polls, modern technology and tools, remote sensing applications will be used to benefit farmers, the health and education sectors.
As Akhilesh addressed the press conference, slides and infographics were screened in the background mentioning specifics about the charges, reflecting the research that the party had conducted to compile the data before levelling the charges.
