Lucknow: A 25-year-old Home Guards recruitment candidate, Yogendra Singh , died during a physical race at the 35th Battalion PAC ground in Lucknow, after a post-mortem report found that he suffered asphyxia when a 250-ml plastic water bottle became lodged in his throat. DCP Central Vikrant Vir Singh said a five-member team has been formed to investigate, with police collecting CCTV footage and verifying details of those present. His brother Kamal Kishore approached Mahanagar police and filed a complaint against unknown persons for murder, alleging that Yogendra was assaulted and the bottle was forcibly pushed into his mouth, causing him to suffocate. The case turned serious after the post-mortem also recorded 12 injury marks on his body, prompting his family to suspect foul play. Yogendra, a resident of Madhia Rahimpur village under Ramkot police station in Sitapur district, was taking part in the recruitment exercise when he collapsed and died.
Call for Comprehensive Investigation into PAC Incident
Kamal has called for a thorough investigation into the recent incident at the PAC premises. He emphasized the need to review CCTV footage and to question candidates and staff who were present at the location during the event.
