ABVP state minister Shivam Singh said student-related issues should not remain pending for long. Unit president Himanshu Pandey said the organisation would launch an agitation if the demands were not addressed within a week. The memorandum mentions issues ranging from hostel facilities and library services to healthcare, drinking water, canteens, sports and placements. The student body sought effective action on the issues within a week. It demanded that hostels be allotted strictly as per university rules and that all hostels function smoothly, with quality food, clean drinking water and proper sanitation. It also sought adequate dustbins on campus and regular operation of canteens in all faculties. ABVP demanded that the university library be upgraded with modern facilities and kept open round the clock, while ensuring adequate course-related books. Student Demands for Enhanced Health and Facilities
A recent memorandum outlines several demands from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) aimed at improving student welfare and campus facilities. Key requests include the restoration of student union elections, a reversal of increased admission fees, and reinstatement of previously approved seat allocations in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
For female students, ABVP has called for the establishment of a visitors’ room and an auditorium at the women’s hostel, along with improvements in sanitation facilities. Specific requests include more toilets, the introduction of pink toilets, sanitary pad vending machines, and common rooms in every department.
In terms of health services, ABVP is advocating for a regular doctor, a sufficient supply of medicines, and continuous medical services at the campus health center. Other notable demands comprise regular convocations, the effective operation of the placement cell and incubation center, and internships for professional and law students. Additionally, there is a call for timely fellowships for research scholars, regular cultural activities, and access to the Major Dhyan Chand Activity Centre and sports facilities for all students.
