Kochi : Infopark Police arrested Arayankavu native Sarath K G, 27, on Tuesday in connection with an alleged cheating case.
He was listed as the second accused in an FIR registered in April based on the complaint of a 65-year-old man hailing from Mamanglam. The case was registered under BNS Sections 316 (2), 318 (4) and 3 (5) for criminal breach of trust, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property and joint liability. Police had earlier arrested the second accused Leo George in July.
The accused entered into an agreement with the complainant to construct six apartments across three floors on a 4.3-cent plot in Thengode, for a total cost of Rs 70 lakh within one year. However, after collecting Rs 40,67,575, they completed only construction work worth Rs 18,51,935. The case states that they consequently defrauded him of Rs 22,15,640.
