Chennai : A 17-year-old boy, standing on a railway track, glued to his mobile phone looking for directions to reach a marriage hall, was run over by a train at Thiruvottriyur railway station on Monday evening.

Police said the teenager had been taking up catering work part-time and was heading to a marriage hall in Ernavoor for an assignment. The deceased was identified as Gurucharan of New Washermenpet. Gurucharan was looking at his mobile phone for directions and failed to notice the approaching express train While crossing the railway tracks at Thiruvottiyur. The train knocked him down, killing him on the spot. On receiving information, the railway police reached the spot and recovered the body. It was sent to a govt hospital for postmortem.
