Pune: Officials of the Pune railway division said they tested 2,132 water samples from a total of 1,401 locations in Aug and Sept. Only 50 of these samples were found unfit. Pune division officials said they inspected drinking water installations at all stations, colonies and workplaces. They said that rectification was done at places where the samples were found unfit. Central Railway (CR) started to take measures to provide safe potable water at stations, including the Pune division, after a recent CAG report. These places were brought under a uniform testing and maintenance schedule, though the CAG report didn’t mention any station in Pune division. After the resolution, the samples were found without bacterial or E. coli contamination.
