Bora (39) died on Sept 14.
Police said Bora had been hired at a building in Malad East to drill a hole in a wall. Police said that while Bora was drilling, the machine’s wire snapped, and he suffered a severe electric shock. Police said he had burns on his head and ears besides other injuries.
Mumbai: An FIR has been registered by Kurar Police against a construction contractor and supervisor for negligence after a labourer was electrocuted while working at a building in Malad East. Prasonta Bora, the victim, was a native of Assam . The contractor, Ratan Jha, had taken a contract, but Bora was working alone without a helper. Bora was using a core drilling machine to drill a hole in the wall on the third floor of the building. But he was not provided with shockproof rubber gloves and gumboots. The construction contractor and supervisor were supposed to be present at the site, but they were not. He was rushed to Trauma Care Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
