Kolkata: Kolkata Traffic Police has issued strict directives to all 26 traffic guards to ensure that construction of Durga Puja pandals, and advertisements, do not obstruct CCTV cameras, prevent motorists’ view of signals, or disrupt traffic flow, especially at crossings.
The decision was made during a traffic review meeting at the Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar, where senior officers emphasised the importance of maintaining clear surveillance and smooth traffic management during the festive season, for which 24/7 CCTV monitoring will be necessary. The cops have also asked that no movement within barricades should be disrupted due to the presence of advertisements. “Traffic and pedestrian movement cannot be impeded due to unrestricted advertisements.
