Ahmedabad: The Surat sub-zonal office of Directorate of Enforcement (ED) provisionally attached 15 immovable properties in Gujarat and Maharashtra in connection with a case registered under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Act against a former official of Gujarat Land Development Corporation Ltd (GLDC).
Their total value is Rs 1.15 crore. The immovable properties worth approximately Rs 1.1 crore were attached on Sept 21. “ED investigation was initiated on the basis of an FIR registered by ACB police station, Bhavnagar, and chargesheet filed before the Hon’ble Special (ACB) Court, Bhavnagar, against Valiya Shiba Zunza alias Bhupat, the then field assistant, Gujarat Land Development Corporation Ltd (GLDC), Bharuch, under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988,” the release states. The properties belong to Shiba Valiya alias Bhupat and others. The release also states that Shiba, being a public servant, acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The properties are located in Mahuva and Talaja in Bhavnagar district, Odhav and Sabarmati in Ahmedabad city, and Hadapsar near Pune in Maharashtra, according to a release issued by ED on Wednesday.
