The skin’s appearance varies throughout the day, but the variation is more evident from morning to night. The face appears more refreshed and a little plumper in the morning but gets shiny, dry, or tired within a few hours. These variations are usually caused by the skin’s reaction to sleeping, blood circulation, temperature, skin care products, and the surrounding environment.

However, immediately after waking up, the face may look puffy, especially below the eyes, as a result of water retention. The body is inactive while we sleep. This could happen right after having a salty meal, not getting enough sleep, or sleeping in the same position. Morning skin can sometimes look fresh too. There has been no sun exposure, dust, pollution, or makeup, and the face has had hours without the friction and environmental stress of the day.
