Kolhapur : A neighbourly dispute over rainwater drainage in Herle village of Hatkanangale taluka turned fatal, leaving a 57-year-old man dead.
Primary information has not revealed any prior incident of dispute among the two neighbours.”
Inspector Sachin Suryavanshi of Hatkanangale police station said, “Investigation in Lohar’s death is on. The altercation reportedly began when rainwater diverted by one resident flowed into another’s house, triggering a confrontation that ultimately claimed Manohar Lohar’s life. Following the incident, a report was lodged at Hatkanangale police station. The police are investigating the incident and the circumstances leading to the death. An argument broke out between them while Lohar was diverting water from the sewer. The verbal argument quickly turned into a physical scuffle. In the heat of the argument, Ayub ended up choking Lohar, leading to the latter’s death.
The accused neighbour — 35year-old Ayub Latkar — later appeared before the police on his own. Heavy rain lashed Herle and surrounding areas on Wednesday evening, causing water to accumulate in a gutter outside the houses of Lohar and Latkar, Hatkanangale police said.
