Announcing the decision on Thursday, revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the govt was moving aggressively to resolve Section 22-A issues that had troubled citizens for years. Srinivas Reddy said the govt had already taken several steps to address 22-A-related grievances. He cited the issuance of a memo in line with GO 118 to resolve house regularisation issues in nearly 64 colonies in Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts, besides GO 76 aimed at settling long-pending housing issues of Singareni workers. Clarifying that all 22-A lands would not be treated uniformly, the minister said each case would be examined on the basis of land records, statutory approvals, legal status and other relevant factors.

“Under the new orders, properties that fall under the 22-A category but have received legally valid layout, building or apartment approvals from departments such as GHMC , HMDA, DTCP, municipal bodies and other urban or rural local authorities will now be eligible for registration, subject to prescribed conditions,” the minister said. Applicants seeking registration must submit at least one valid link document relating to a transaction registered after the relevant approval was granted, according to the minister. Eligible cases, he said, would be provided relief through a fast-track mechanism.

The decision follows chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s assurance in the assembly that pending land-related disputes would be addressed on priority. He stressed that the state‘s objective was to end the hardship faced by citizens who had been forced to make repeated visits to govt offices and courts over land disputes.
