Habits to make food healthy and tasty
Healthy eating can be enjoyable and full of tastes instead of boring and bland. In most cases, it is important how food is cooked, rather than what food is eaten. Many cooking techniques help keep nutrition in food, use less oil, and enhance the taste of the food. Below are several tips shared by Chef Hemant Singh Bohra that can help you enjoy food. Deep frying makes food crispy but adds too much oil. The method of roasting is simpler and also helps to achieve crispness in food by using less oil. You can take vegetables like potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, and pumpkin, cover them with oil and spices and then roast. Even things like snacks can be prepared by roasting, for example, roasted chickpeas or makhana. Grilling food often gives it a flavorful profile Grilling provides great taste to food naturally without using heavy sauces and too much oil. Vegetables, paneer, chicken, fish, and even fruits can be grilled. One can use spices, herbs, lemon juice, or yogurt. Also, grilling is perfect when you are short of time. Eating healthy isn’t about tasteless food. Using spices, herbs and aromatics like garlic, ginger, onion and green chillies can bring life to the simplest ingredients. Rather than going overboard on butter, cream or salt, try seasoning your food with cumin, turmeric, coriander, black pepper, cinnamon, fresh coriander, mint or basil. Tempering whole spices in little oil can also help to release their aromas and add some flavour boost. The use of rich sauces can make even a relatively healthy meal heavy. Instead of drenching food in thick and creamy sauces, it’s better to reduce them and concentrate on their natural taste. You can simmer your tomato or vegetable sauce or any other stock based sauces to make them slightly denser and more flavourful. Alternatively, you can replace heavy sauces with lighter ones made of yogurt, lemon juice or blended vegetables.
