Actor Raveendran has been chosen to head Kerala Chalachitra Academy
Thiruvananthapuram : Actor and film-festival curator Raveendran has been appointed as chairperson of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Raveendran had acted in several movies both as a hero and villain. Considered to be a pioneer in bringing disco to Malayalam films in the ’80s, Raveendran played prominent roles in movies when multi-star films were popular. The academy aims to focus more on the artistic and technical sectors of filmmaking under the new committee. Actor and cultural activist Priyanka Nair is the new vice-chairperson. Actor Salim Hassan and young filmmaker Jofin T Chacko will be the executive committee members. The general council has been reorganised to include Deepu Karunakaran, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, M V Girishkumar, Salim Hassan, B Rakesh, Sajeevan Anthikad, Jofin T Chacko, Zakariya, R S Panicker, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vazhoor Jose, A Kabeer, Sabu Shankar, Sherga Sandeep and Abdul Hanan.
