Residents in several extension areas have reported persistent pig-related problems that they attribute to the negligence of the authorities concerned
Residents said the problem has been worsening, with pigs frequently seen moving in groups and occupying public spaces across several neighbourhoods. Residents said pigs are commonly found on roads, in open spaces and along residential lanes, causing inconvenience and raising concerns about hygiene and public safety. Renukabai, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, said the area was already grappling with a mosquito menace and that the increasing presence of pigs had compounded residents’ concerns. She said people were living under the constant threat of fever outbreaks and that the situation had created a sense of insecurity, especially among families with children and elderly members. Rudresh Ghali, commissioner of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), said action would be initiated after the Ganesha festival.
Hubballi : The pig menace continues to trouble residents in several parts of Hubballi, with people in many extension areas blaming the authorities for failing to address the issue. The affected localities include extension areas along Gokul Road, Anand Nagar, Nekar Nagar, Arihant Nagar, Keshwapur, Adarsh Nagar and Old Hubballi. Residents also linked the growing pig menace to poor sanitation and what they described as inaction by the authorities. They demanded immediate steps to address the issue, warning that both the pig and mosquito menace would continue to escalate without intervention, increasing health risks and the threat of disease. He added that directions would be issued to the officials concerned to curb the pig menace.
