Muzaffarnagar: Taking a dig at Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress during a religious event in Aligarh on Friday, UP deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed that neither party would return to power in the state or at the Centre even by 2047.
Referring to the party’s political agenda, Maurya cited the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, abrogation of Article 370 , welfare schemes for the poor and action against corruption and crime as achievements of BJP govts.
Addressing a gathering at DAV Inter College in Gandhi Park, Maurya said that with the SP’s ongoing rath yatra, the Opposition was free to “dream” but already began preparing a script to explain its defeat in the 2027 assembly polls. He said the “people’s court” would deliver its verdict in 2027 and claimed that BJP would return to power in the state. Speaking about the Ram temple movement, Maurya said “Kar Sevaks” had made sacrifices and braved police action during the agitation. Targeting the Opposition over its criticism of chief election commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, Maurya said the allegations against him were raised selectively, depending on the electoral outcomes. Maurya further said the BJP-led govt was working towards a “developed and self-reliant India” and accused the Opposition of spreading misinformation.
He also accused previous govts of promoting family politics and failing to maintain law and order.
