Over 50K students sing vande matram
Prayagraj : Braving inclement weather, more than 50,000 students on Friday sang the full version of Vande Mataram at 11 am, reinforcing the spirit of nationalism and expressing solidarity with the nation in response to a call by Vidya Bharati, the educational wing of the RSS. Apart from the 25 schools under Vidya Bharati’s Keshav Sankul and Madhav Sankul, several aided secondary schools from urban and rural areas also participated in the campaign. Vidya Bharati had decided to organise a simultaneous rendition of Vande Mataram in schools across the country on Sept 25 to mark the song’s 150th anniversary. Addressing students at Jwala Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Mumfordganj, RSS Prant Prachar Pramukh Murarji Tripathi said Vande Mataram emerged as a rallying cry during the anti-Partition movement in Bengal in 1905 and the Swadeshi movement.

Students participated enthusiastically at several institutions, including Jwala Devi Inter College (Civil Lines and Gangapuri), Jwala Devi Balika Vidyalaya (Mumfordganj), Rani Revati Devi Inter College (Rajapur), Madhav Gyan Kendra (Naini), Vidya Mandir (Pasna and Sarvodaya Nagar), Vivekananda Vidya Mandir (George Town), Kalyani Devi Inter College and Mahaprabhu Inter College (Shivkuti). “The British feared this slogan, which is why it was banned by the colonial govt. To break the chains of slavery, countless youths embraced the gallows chanting Vande Mataram. Meanwhile, under the leadership of principals Yogendra Singh (KP Inter College, City), Santosh Shukla (Lal Bahadur Shastri Inter College, Dharwara), Pawan Kumar Tiwari (Shri Krishna Inter College, Devanagari, Phulpur) and Ranvijay Singh (Shiv Balak Singh Inter College, Naini), a large number of students joined the rendition, showcasing unity and patriotism.
