The five-page memorandum submitted on the directions of SP president Akhilesh Yadav by the party’s state president Shyam Lal Pal states that despite notification for the elections to the 11 seats being issued at 10 am on Sept 22, chief minister went ahead to influence the electorate by distributing appointment letters to 3,567 candidates for the post of principals and teachers in the state. The memorandum states that chief minister gave away appointment letters to 319 principals, 258 headmasters, 619 lecturers and 2,372 assistant teachers. The memorandum attached a copy of a circular over model code of conduct issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) on Dec 26, 2016, to support the party’s charge that once the notification for elections was issued, no programme can be organised or even an announcement be made which can influence the voters. It further alleged that chief minister on Sept 24, 2026, announced that houses will be provided to 10 lakh people. On Sept 23, 2026, CM inaugurated Bharat Taxi service in gross violation of the election’s model code of conduct.
“We demand that the ECI rise above the role of a mute spectator and issue notices to chief minister Yogi Adityanath for violation of the model code of conduct,” the memorandum read. Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) has submitted a memorandum to chief electoral officer (CEO), Uttar Pradesh , seeking action against chief minister Yogi Adityanath for alleged repeated violations of the model code of conduct (MCC) by attempting to influence voters after the notification of elections to six teachers’ and five graduates’ constituency seats in the state. There have been repeated violations of the poll code, the memorandum read. The SP has demanded that chief minister’s programmes must be videographed by ECI, based on which action must be taken against him if there was any violation of code of conduct.
