GHAZIABAD: A 14-year-old girl died after allegedly falling from a flat on the 12th floor of a residential society in Raj Nagar Extension on Friday morning, police said. The incident was reported at around 9am at Nandgram police station, according to police.
Police officials said they were speaking to the girl’s family members to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Nandgram, Ziauddin Ahmed, said police had reached the spot immediately after receiving the information and that further legal proceedings were underway. The situation at the spot is normal and law and order is being maintained,” the ACP said. Police said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation and postmortem examination.
The girl was reportedly at her family’s flat in Raj Nagar Residency when she fell from the 12th floor. She sustained critical injuries in the fall and died. After receiving information about the incident, a team from Nandgram police station reached the spot and took the girl’s body into custody. The body was subsequently sent to the mortuary for postmortem examination. The exact sequence of events and how the girl fell from the apartment are yet to be established. “Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. The family is being spoken to and information is being gathered.
