Police revealed that the suspect was reportedly angered after being repeatedly taunted by fellow inmates regarding his paralyzed condition and speech impairment. Superintendent of police (SP) Mummaka Sudarshan confirmed the details of the violent outbreak, noting that medical teams are providing care to the survivors while police complete their initial investigation at the scene.
The suspect, a resident of the facility who suffers from paralysis and speech difficulties used his specialized metal mobility stick to attack his fellow inmates, according to police reports. The police said the assault began in the sleeping area, where the man first struck the person lying next to him before turning on other residents in the dormitory type setting of the facility. Personnel from the Ahilyanagar MIDC police station rushed to the scene immediately following the report.
