Kanpur: Authorities apprehended a 47-year-old individual near Badausa railway station on Friday. This arrest is connected to the seizure of codeine-based syrup valued at Rs 3 crore, which occurred on September 3 in Banda. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this significant drug bust.
Investigating officer, Gaurav Mishra said the accused, Ravindra Gupta, had been evading the police for the past 22 days. He said that Gupta switched off his mobile phone, repeatedly changed hideouts and travelled about 1,000 km by train and bus. “More than a dozen mobile numbers were kept under surveillance and raids were conducted at about 25 locations, including Hamirpur, Mahoba, Fatehpur, Kanpur and Agra to arrest the accused,” Mishra said.
