Police said one of the trucks was allegedly speeding and trying to overtake a vehicle when it crashed into the other. Nashik : Three people were killed and another critically injured after two trucks collided head-on on the Malegaon-Manmad road early on Saturday.
Police identified the driver who allegedly attempted the overtaking as Washim Akram Khan, 26, of Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh. Its driver, Samiyoddin Sirajoddin, 27, of Bidar district in Karnataka, and cleaner Abdul Rehman Mohamad Bukhari, 37, also from Karnataka, died on the spot. His cleaner, Shoaib Khan Bhure Khan, 29, of Madhya Pradesh, suffered severe head and abdominal injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police said Khan allegedly moved out to overtake a vehicle and crashed head-on into a truck coming from the opposite direction. The accident occurred around 6am near Kanadgaon Shivar in Chandwad taluka. He was travelling from Manmad towards Malegaon. The impact sent the other truck off the road and overturned it. Khan was also killed in the crash. Both trucks were badly damaged in the collision. Chandwad police have registered a case against Khan under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence. Download the TOI App.
