A 20-year-old woman has reported being raped under the pretense of being offered a role in a film. The incident, which also involves claims that the accused took obscene photographs of her, has led the Naigaon police to register a case against four individuals. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more details regarding the allegations.

On Sept 16, he allegedly called her to Borivli, altered details on her Aadhaar card and took her to a hotel within the Naigaon police jurisdiction, where he allegedly raped her after threatening to circulate the photographs. He conducted an audition through a video call and later asked her to send semi-nude photographs, saying she would have to appear bold for film roles, according to her complaint. Naigaon police have registered a case against four persons in connection with the incident. The woman, a resident of Dharashiv, met accused Jatin Doshi, a Kandivli resident, on Instagram in Aug. He allegedly claimed to be a singer in the film industry and promised to help her get work. He allegedly later asked her to meet three other men. The woman refused and returned to Dharashiv. She later approached Naigaon police after allegedly receiving threats from Doshi and Ananda Mudaliyar. Police have registered a case against Doshi, Minaj Rehman, Mudaliyar and Rishabh Doshi under rape and provisions of the Information Technology Act. The case has been transferred to Anand Nagar police station in Dharashiv for further investigation. Download the TOI App.
