Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Sunday that Tehran is waiting for a formal response from the United States regarding its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resolve ongoing tensions. This proposal, which has been on the table for seven days, comes despite US President Donald Trump’s public rejection of the plan. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global oil shipments, making diplomatic efforts in this area particularly significant.
As reported by the Iranian state-affiliated Student News Network (SNN), quoting US officials, the US president has told aides he expects to resume bombing Iran after the November midterms.
Araghchi said Tehran had taken note of Trump’s reaction but had not received Washington’s definitive position through the mediators. “We are waiting for the mediators to convey the definitive views to us, and we will make a decision based on them,” he said, according to Iranian state media IRNA. “Our conditions are clear,” Araghchi said.
