Patrick Mahomes is set to lead the Kansas City Chiefs against the Miami Dolphins in their Week 3 matchup on Sunday, September 27. Kansas City enters the game at 2-0, while Miami is still searching for its first win of the season. The Chiefs listed Mahomes with a knee issue on their Week 3 injury report, but he was a full participant in practice throughout the week. Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the 2025 season and went through an extensive rehabilitation process before being cleared for training camp. A Chiefs insider told SB Nation that Mahomes looked more settled in Week 2 than he did during the season opener.
Because he is continuing his comeback from the knee injury that ended his 2025 campaign, mahomes’ availability remains a major storyline. The team’s final report lists Mahomes as having no game-status designation, meaning there is no indication that the knee will keep him out. Now, the quarterback appears to be growing more comfortable with the repaired knee.
More importantly, Kansas City did not give its quarterback an official game designation on Friday.
