Rejinagar (Murshidabad): AJUP chief Humayun Kabir ’s “wish” for chief minister Suvendu Adhikari’s death on Sunday led to widespread condemnation across party lines and triggered multiple police complaints. Facing a backlash, Kabir — 72 hours after making the controversial remark on Friday — said he “wished the CM lived a long life and be the Prime Minister of India one day”. A senior police officer said an FIR would be registered. Reacting sharply, Bengal health minister Sharadwat Mukherjee said: “Political courtesy in Bengal has fallen to a very low level. Urban development minister Agnimitra Paul said: “This is the kind of politics Kabir practises. An FIR will be lodged, and police and administration will act according to the court directives.
