David Miller and Temba Bavuma hit centuries as South Africa beat Australia by 32 runs in the second ODI on Sunday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Miller smashed 142 off 93 balls for his eighth ODI century, while Bavuma made 103 for his sixth hundred in the format. Their knocks helped South Africa post 365-9. Australia’s Jack Edwards, playing only his second ODI, took 5-67, while Josh Hazlewood claimed 3-70. Australia again chose to chase after winning the toss but were bowled out for 333 in the final over. Captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head gave Australia a strong start, putting together 130 runs in 17 overs. Marsh made 84, while Head also scored 84. Keshav Maharaj took 2-54 and Markram picked up 1-55 as Bavuma made full use of his 30 overs of spin. Xavier Bartlett provided some late resistance with 50 off 28 balls, including 19 runs from Bjorn Fortuin’s final over. Fortuin finished with 2-70. Hazlewood had also dismissed Aiden Markram for a first-ball duck. But South Africa’s spinners changed the game in the middle overs. The second ODI was also the annual Pink Day fixture, which raises money for cancer research and treatment. Miller wore his mother Jenny’s name on the back of his jersey.
