Lucknow : A Lucknow man allegedly lost Rs 2 lakh after opening a fake e-challan message containing an APK file, sent to him on WhatsApp . The cyber fraudsters reportedly retained control of the victim’s phone for nearly six days.
The next day, Rs 2 was deducted from his credit card, which he initially ignored. On Sept 10, his phone suddenly stopped working. When it switched on the following day, he found four transaction messages showing that Rs 2 lakh had been withdrawn from his account.

The sender claimed it was an RTO challan notification issued in his name and asked him to open the file to verify the details. Soon after Uttam, a resident of Chaudhary Tola in Aliganj, opened it, his phone was allegedly compromised, though he did not realise it immediately.
