Luxmi Group proposed an investment of Rs 400 crore in the tea: The wider industry impact

Kolkata: The state govt on Sunday received investment proposals worth Rs 12,534 crore from 37 investors for development of the tourism sector, with Ambuja Neotia Group proposing the highest investment of Rs 3,015 crore in the urban and business luxury segment.

Arya Tea Co Ltd submitted the second-highest investment proposal of Rs 915 crore for tea tourism and hill resorts, followed by Sree Balaji Group, which proposed to invest Rs 800 crore in heritage, wellness and eco-tourism. In the urban and business luxury segment, KK Group and Merlin Group proposed investments of Rs 700 crore and Rs 650 crore respectively, while The Park put forward a proposal of Rs 575 crore and MLA Group Rs 550 crore. Luxmi Group proposed an investment of Rs 400 crore in the tea tourism and hill resorts segment. In the heritage and wellness segment, Sonar Bangla Hotel Group proposed an investment of Rs 605 crore, the second-highest after Sree Balaji Group.

State tourism minister Shankar Ghosh on Monday shared details of the investment outcome of the tourism investors’ meet held on Sunday on social media.

The investments are expected to generate 21,814 direct jobs across different segments of the tourism sector, according to the proposals. The proposed projects will be spread across three regional investment footprints — North Bengal, the South and Central corridor, and the greater Kolkata and coastal region.
