Chemical reactor blast
The intensity of the blast was such that parts of the reactor fell at far-off places while fire and smoke could be seen in villages located 5 km away.
Mahad MIDC police inspector Anand Rawade said, “The company is continuing its operations without filling the safety manager post. The company employed untrained workers to handle the hazardous chemicals, according to the police. Navi Mumbai: Seven people sustained grievous injuries in a high-intensity boiler and chemical reactor explosion at Synergia Chem Industries, Mahad MIDC, Raigad, late Sunday. Constable Vikas Sutar registered an FIR in the incident. Nine persons, including production manager Anish Ray, supervisor Yash Nivgune and operator Nitin Lad, who too sustained burns, were booked by Mahad MIDC police. The plants of four adjoining companies were damaged in the incident.
Rawade told the media the registers had been seized and were part of the investigation. The locals rushed to the plant site and demanded entry and exit gate register details.
