Attachment Attachment Attachment Attachment Pilibhit : Three members of a family from Uttarakhand were killed and three others injured after their car collided head-on with a speeding dumper on Pilibhit-Basti NH 730 near Piparia Dulai turn in Pilibhit district around 11.50am on Monday. The deceased were identified as Sadhna Gayan (38), her husband’s younger brother Tarash Gayan (32), who was driving the car, and an elderly woman whose identity was yet to be established. Sadhna’s husband, Sanatan Gayan (42), their son Shantanu (15) and daughter Khushbu (17) were injured in the crash.
The family was travelling from Shakti Farm in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand to Gola in UP’s Kheri district to attend a family function when the accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Puranpur Kotwali police station. Police shifted the victims to a community health centre. Two women were declared dead on arrival, while the car driver, who was trapped inside the mangled vehicle, died at the spot. Police had to cut open the car door to retrieve the driver’s body. The dumper driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. The dumper was later impounded.
