The private bus which overturned in Gadwal on Monday
Hyderabad: A private travel bus carrying 37 school students from Tamil Nadu overturned near Boravelli in Manopad mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district early Monday after the driver, who was reportedly drowsy, lost control of the vehicle. The accident occurred around 6:10 am when the bus was travelling towards Kurnool from Gadwal as part of a trip organised for students of a school in Salem. Around 12 students sustained minor bruises, but none sustained major injuries.
The driver lost control of the bus after becoming drowsy, causing it to overturn, according to Manopad SI B Swathi. A case was yet to be registered in connection with the accident, SI Swathi said. Two teachers were also travelling with the students. Police rushed the injured students to a nearby hospital, where they were treated. After the students were discharged, police arranged an RTC bus to take them to Kurnool. From Kurnool, the school management made arrangements for the students and teachers to return to Salem. Download the TOI App.
