Hyderabad: Condemning the alleged use of police force against farmers over the acquisition of land for the proposed bullet train project at Bahadurpally, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the party was not against the project but opposed what he termed a ‘real estate business’ on Bahadurpally lands. He assured the affected farmers that the BRS would stand by them until justice was delivered.
There is no need to use police force to intimidate people,” he said. However, he alleged that the Congress govt was attempting to facilitate a “real-estate venture” in the name of development at the cost of farmers’ interests. He asked why thousands of police personnel were being sent to farmers’ homes if the govt was confident about its legal claim over the land. KTR clarified that the BRS was not opposed to development or the bullet train project and supported developmental initiatives.
“If the govt has valid records and documents, it should place them before the farmers. Addressing a meeting with farmers from Bahadurpally at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, KTR questioned the deployment of a large police force in villages where land disputes are ongoing.
