A jewellery trader was robbed of around 5 kg of silver by four men who intercepted his vehicle on a highway in Hardoi’s Shahabad area late Sunday night, police said.
Lucknow: A jewellery trader was robbed of nearly 5 kg of silver after four men intercepted his vehicle on a highway in Hardoi’s Shahabad area late Sunday night, police said. The incident occurred around 11.30 pm near a gravel plant, about two kilometres from Shahabad, when Hardev Ram Soni was travelling from Shahjahanpur to Lucknow with his driver.
In his complaint, Soni said a car carrying four occupants overtook their vehicle and forced it to stop on the highway. Hardoi superintendent of police Ashok Kumar Meena said police were examining all angles and working to identify and arrest those involved. Police teams reached the spot shortly after being alerted and inspected the scene. A case has been registered and investigators have started collecting evidence to identify the suspects. To speed up the investigation, three teams have been constituted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police.
