Ravindra said he has full faith in the crime branch’s investigation and did not wish to comment on it. “But I will continue the hunger strike till the accused are arrested,” he said, adding that he would abide by the rules on protests at the site. “I want justice and I do not want to do anything unconstitutional or against the law.”
Police allow protests at Azad Maidan only till 6pm on working days. In the application, Ravindra demanded the arrest of IIT-B director Shireesh Kedare and Prof Suryanarayana Doolla, who has been accused of abetting the suicide. In the FIR filed by Powai police, the family has alleged caste bias against Doolla.
The couple wrote to Mumbai police seeking permission to continue their strike on Tuesday.
Mumbai: A week since its formation, IIT-B’s 10-member committee probing the death of BTech student Sahil Wakode is yet to reach out to the family, said his father, Ravindra, on Monday. Ravindra, who was on a day-long hunger strike with wife Sonali at Azad Maidan, said no one from the institute has spoken to them either since Sept 19, the day after Wakode’s death.
He sought an independent inquiry into “the selective leakage” of CCTV footage of the hall that showed Wakode sitting for an exam hours before his death. “The investigation is on and the footage was part of it and it should not have been leaked,” he said.
