Aishwarya Rai Bachchan brought regal glamour to Paris Fashion Week in a dramatic Yara Shoemaker velvet gown, a crystal-covered cape and striking burgundy-red hair.
For the September 28 show, Aishwarya wore a dramatic two-piece velvet gown by Yara Shoemaker from the designer’s Fall/Winter 2026-27 couture collection.
The show was presented under L’Oréal Paris’ “Walk Your Worth” theme, celebrating confidence, diversity and female solidarity. Comments calling her “Royalty herself” and “Once a Queen, forever a Queen” poured in, with many fans particularly taken by her dramatic new hair colour and regal couture look. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan knows how to make an entrance. And at L’Oréal Paris’ Le Défilé in Paris, she did exactly that. The actor stepped onto the runway at Place Joffre, with the Eiffel Tower providing a very Parisian backdrop, in a look that felt somewhere between old-school royalty and modern couture. The rich velvet, sculptural silhouette and elaborate embellishment gave the outfit plenty of drama without taking away from its elegance. The real star of the outfit was the detailing. The dark velvet gown featured three-dimensional fringe embroidery that added texture and movement to the silhouette. Draped over it was a sweeping cape covered in crystal embellishments. And as Aishwarya walked, the crystals caught the light, giving the otherwise deep-toned outfit a striking glow. It was a very Aishwarya kind of fashion moment. Instead of playing it safe with minimal styling, she leaned into glamour. The velvet added richness, the crystals brought the sparkle and the dramatic cape gave the entire look a grand, almost regal finish. But the gown wasn’t the only thing that caught attention. Aishwarya also debuted a striking burgundy-red hair colour, adding a fiery touch to the dark, jewel-toned outfit. The rich red shade worked surprisingly well with the velvet and gave the overall look a more contemporary feel. Her makeup was polished and glamorous but didn’t compete with the outfit. The focus stayed firmly on the couture silhouette, the sparkling cape and, of course, that new hair colour. The styling was done by Mohit Rai, Tarang Agarwal and Chintan Shah, who kept the attention on the structure and embellishment of the Yara Shoemaker creation. Aishwarya was among the many international L’Oréal Paris ambassadors who took part in the ninth edition of Le Défilé. She shared the runway with names including Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria, Simone Ashley, Viola Davis, Jane Fonda and Céline Dion. And one of the sweetest moments of the evening came when Aishwarya reunited with Céline Dion. The two stars were seen hugging, holding hands and even dancing together on stage. Backstage, Aishwarya also shared a warm embrace with Eva Longoria as the latter was getting ready for the show. Pictures and videos from the runway quickly made their way across social media, with fans praising Aishwarya’s appearance. And while the runway featured plenty of international stars, Aishwarya’s combination of velvet, crystals, a sweeping cape and burgundy hair was hard to miss. This was glamour in its fullest form, with a distinctly Aishwarya twist.
