Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : In the unopposed elections to the Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) for the 2026-2030 term, senior sports administrator Shirish Boralkar of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has been elected as working president, marking Marathwada’s growing influence in the state’s sports administration.
Speaking about the roadmap, he said the new team’s foremost priority is to take badminton to the grassroots level across Maharashtra. “We want to promote badminton up to the grassroots level, and shall plan for a Maharashtra Badminton League,” Boralkar said, outlining his vision. The results were officially declared by Returning Officer Justice Arun B Chaudhari, a retired Judge, Bombay High Court, after only single valid nominations were received for each post, said an official release.
Boralkar’s elevation alongside Siddharth Patil of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as Honorary General Secretary is being seen as a strategic move to decentralize leadership and energize the association’s grassroots mission While incumbent Arun Lakhani of Nagpur was re-elected unopposed as president. Mangesh Kashikar of Nagpur was elected Senior Vice President. Boralkar, who is also the secretary of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Cricket Association, will shoulder key operational responsibilities in the new setup.
