CPM candidate Manju Sujith won 17th Division (Thrikkodithanam) by 2,140 votes, the biggest margin among the seats that went to the polls, in Kottayam district panchayat. In the bypolls to the grama panchayats held in Kottayam, Preetha Prasad of Congress won Ward 1 (Cheeramkulam) of Meenadom by 162 votes. In Pampady, CPM candidate Sunny Varghese won from Ward 10 (Kumbanthanam) by 66 votes. In Pathanamthitta, Rabeesh Mon Ravi of Kerala Congress won Othara ward of Kuttur grama panchayat, reserved for Scheduled Castes, by 148 votes. Anila of Congress won Kalleli ward of Aruvappulam, also reserved for Scheduled Castes, by 112 votes.
Kottayam: CPM won a key division in the byelections held to local self-govt bodies in Kottayam district. In Kunnamthanam, Radhamaniamma of Congress won Vallokunnu Ward, reserved for women, by just two votes. In Ranni, M R Ramyamol of Congress won Blockupadi Ward by five votes.
