US President Donald Trump is set to meet the CEOs of several major technology and artificial intelligence companies at the White House. This meeting comes as concerns about the risks posed by rapidly advancing AI systems continue to grow. The meeting comes as AI companies, lawmakers and governments debate how rapidly the technology should develop and what safeguards may be needed. A report claims that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang are expected to attend the lunch meeting, along with Palantir CEO Alex Karp. At the same time, Johnson has opposed a moratorium on AI development, saying the US cannot risk losing its technological edge to China. The gathering follows several recent meetings between Trump and technology executives. Zuckerberg, along with CEOs including Sam Altman, Huang, Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and AMD CEO Lisa Su, attended a White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping last week. Meta has taken a different position from some technology leaders who have called for a collective slowdown in developing increasingly capable AI systems. Meta is among the companies making major investments in AI infrastructure. The White House has listed Meta among companies announcing large US technology and AI investments.
The White House has also previously brought technology leaders together to discuss AI development and US competitiveness.
