Bengaluru: A goldsmith’s escape to West Bengal with gold meant for making bangles backfired as Subramanyanagar police tracked him down and arrested him, recovering 679 grams of jewellery and ingots worth around Rs 1 crore. A police team traced and detained him in Kalna town of Bardhaman on Sept 15, and recovered 441 grams of gold jewellery from his wife’s maternal home. Police subsequently recovered a 238-gram gold ingot. Bengaluru: Three young burglars allegedly involved in a housebreaking case in Subramanyanagar, northwest Bengaluru, were arrested and 23 grams of stolen gold jewellery worth around Rs 3 lakh recovered.
During questioning, Mallick said there was more gold at his house in Manjunathanagar. Mallick was brought to Bengaluru on a transit warrant and taken into custody. The complainant had locked his house on 13th Main in Subramanyanagar and gone to a friend’s place. On returning in the afternoon, he found the door lock broken and gold jewellery/cash kept in a wardrobe missing.
