The Daudpur incident began during a door-to-door campaign by CPI candidate Santigopal Giri. In a separate incident at Terepekhya, miscreants smashed the windscreen of a Congress campaign tableau in support of candidate Milan Pradhan. Congress netas attributed the attack to BJP-backed elements and escalated the issue to Election Commission .
